Gelt is basically cash. And lots of it makes you a very wealthy person. As we know, money is used to purchase various things in life. It’s no different in Florensia. You get Gelt from quests, monsters and various other sources.
Some things like potions and healing items cost next to nothing while objects bought with AP (Real money in short.) can be up to 5 million Gelt which is very, very hard to raise. Gelt is a very important thing so collect seemingly ‘useless’ items to sell on and make more Gelt.
There is a problem with Gelt though. Or rather, the problem is in the weapons and amour you buy. You see, Amour progresses in levels like you do. The connection is that you cannot have that amour until you match that level.
Monsters are very easy to kill when you begin anyway so I wouldn’t worry about this aspect too much. If you ever find amour on monsters then I’d recommend breaking it down into crystals. Crystals are an essentiality item for upgrading and you need a good supply to do it.
